What Goes Into a Nova Cakes Cake Hamper
Our base cake hamper is a decorative wooden tray finished with balloons and LED lights, holding a 500g cake in a clear presentation box, a fresh rose bouquet and balloons. The roses are real and arranged fresh — not artificial, and not shipped in. The cake at the centre is never a fixed item: flavour, colours, lettering and design are all yours to choose, exactly as they would be on any cake we bake.
From there the hamper is yours to build. Helium balloons, chocolates, a teddy, a greeting card, or a gift you have chosen yourself and want included — tell us who it is for and we put it together around that. Nothing comes off a fixed catalogue, so a hamper for a girlfriend, a new mum, a colleague retiring and a family celebrating Diwali all end up looking quite different.
There is a real difference between a hamper baked in Halifax and a gift box couriered in. Can I choose the cake flavour and design inside the hamper?
Yes. The cake in a hamper is baked to order like any other, so you pick the flavour, the icing colours, the lettering and the design. Signature options include Rasmalai, Gulab Jamun and Lotus Biscoff, alongside classics such as chocolate, red velvet, butterscotch and mango. Send a reference photo on WhatsApp and we will match the style.
Can I add chocolates, a teddy or a greeting card?
Yes — helium balloons, chocolates, a teddy and a greeting card are all common additions, and you can include a gift of your own for us to present with it. We confirm the complete contents with you before anything is assembled.
Are the roses in the hamper real?
Yes, it is a fresh rose bouquet, arranged and delivered alongside the cake rather than shipped in. If you would prefer a different flower, or would rather replace the bouquet with something else entirely, just say so when you order.
Do you deliver cake hampers across Halifax and Dartmouth?
Yes, seven days a week across Dartmouth, Halifax, Bedford, Cole Harbour, Lower Sackville, Clayton Park, Fairview, Spryfield, Eastern Passage and nearby Nova Scotia communities, depending on availability. Pickup in Dartmouth is always an option too.
Can a hamper be delivered late at night as a surprise?
Yes. Hampers go out on our late-night run as well as cakes, typically arriving between 11:30 and 11:45 PM. Give us the name and number of someone at the address who is in on the surprise and we will contact only them on arrival.
Do you do same-day cake hampers?
Often, yes — same-day hampers are accepted as well as same-day cakes, depending on that day's baking schedule. Message us early in the day and we will tell you which cakes and which hamper builds are realistic for that evening.
Are your hampers suitable for vegetarians? Are they vegan?
Every hamper is vegetarian, because no eggs are used anywhere in our kitchen — that suits egg allergies, vegetarian households and families who avoid eggs for religious reasons. They are not vegan, however: our cakes contain dairy such as butter, cream and milk.
Can you do corporate or bulk gift hampers?
Yes. Staff appreciation, client thank-you gifts and office celebrations are all things we build hampers for, including multiple matching boxes. Message us with how many you need and the date, and we will confirm what is workable — office and holiday-season dates book up early.
